Hi!

The M5S is really chaep atm, the 128GB is cheaper than a Samsung 840.

There are rumors that Plextor use cheaper NAND and not the Intel 25nm (like in Crucial M4)anymore.

Anybody have an idea? True or not?

as far as I know Plextor works only with Toshibas nand. and is a 'prefered' partner with them

Yeah, Toshiba is favorite partner for Plextor, but the M5S uses Intel/Micron

did not know that, ty. that aside the 'pro' vers is only $10 more at newegg y wouldn't u go with that?
im pretty sure plex gets top bin nand from Toshiba. not so sure about micron/intel. unless its a significant diff in price id go with the higher quality(assumption on my part) everytime. and you get the newer controller with the pro.

The M5Pro is definitely worth the extra ~$10. I'm surprised Plextor hasn't discontinued the M5S and similar slower models. I believe they use a better TRIM and over provisioning scheme in the M5P, also.

Here in Germany you pay for the 256GB-version of the M5P ca. 35 (atm 45$) more than M5S.
