How durable is this plastic shell (on the range of 1 to 5, with 1 being an older WD passport crap and 5 being the Gtech aluminum alloy), and what kind of drive is actually inside?

Hah, nice scale. It's sturdy, probably a 3.5 using your numbers. We haven't opened it up but based on the 2MB performance numbers, those suggest a 5,400RPM drive inside. Well, there's that and the fact that Seagate stopped the 7,200 RPM platform for 2.5" consumer drives and the only 2.5" internal they list on their site is 5,400.
