The MB982IP-1S-1 is part of Icy Dock’s MB982 enterprise series, which is designed for large-scale storage applications. Like the MB982IP-1S, reviewed as part of our Icy Dock SSD/HDD Conversion Kit Roundup, the MB982IP-1S-1 features a SECC steel case for cooling and durability. The MB982IP-1S-1 proves itself a versatile choice for providing a 3.5” SAS interface to use with a variety of standard backplanes and hot swap modules.

I don't know if these are important or not, but do these SATA to SAS converters all use a proper SAS interposer (eg: http://www.lsi.com/p.../LSISS9252.aspx) or do they present the device as a SATA device to the SAS backplane?

If not, would it be worth these converters having proper interposers?

This is a pass-through adapter specifically for a 2.5" to 3.5" form-factor, so no electronics to add SAS capabilities to SATA devices.

How about the SAS dualport capability, which does not exist in the simple SATA drives?
This means - will this converter keep the dualport SAS connector compatibility?
What you see above is my personal opinion. Don't take it as the holy bible and the one-and-only truth :)
