Practically, the difference in speed might not be visible. But in benchmarks, which do you suppose is faster ? the WD4500HLHX due to its short-stroked nature ?

The one benchmark of the 450GB Raptor I've seen made me think its on 3 150GB platters, as it performed on par with the 300GB model and far slower than the 600GB. Things may be different now and newer 450GB models might have 2 short stroked platters similar to those of the 600GB model, but I am convinced early models were like that. If there are really 450GB models with 2 short stroke platters, then I need to see at least one guys HD tack & HD Tune benchmarks that show it, in order to actually believe it. WD was sending only the 600GB model to review sites (suspicious?)
