i have a black, about 6mths old, is there a new revision?

I'm more interested in suggestions for the storage sub-sys I outlined.

is this ideal for the storage/bu subsys I outlined, or would something like F3 be better?

definitely night, thanks.

Since we haven't tested them against each other I can't definitively say, though I wouldn't expect trouble from either. I would want the much larger cache of the WD though over the pretty limited F3. Not that cache is the only factor in performance, but still.

The general consensus I've garnered is that for random r/w, the WD has a slight edge, for everything else, the F3 wins out.*
So for storage/BU drives or an array that'd make the F3 more ideal wouldn't it?

*admittedly that was before the time of this 'supposed' new Black revision you're talking about.

How is it "supposed?" I've posted a picture of the darn thing.

Apologies if I offended? ...
Please ignore, I just read the post more carefully.

Sigh, I'll have to get on the google+review train to see which is the best again now...
If WD's still only king for random R/W, would you agree with my assertion that the F3's are a better buy for Storage/BU drives/array?

Thank-you.

I haven't used the Samsung F3 so I don't want to comment on them...maybe someone else can weigh in. We're working on the WD review now though, so we should have details on it shortly.
