I came across this thread by accident and started looking at it. I did find this:

[SCSI] 3w-9xxx: fix abysmal write performance on some motherboards

Which appears to be nothing more than adding a call to pci_try_set_mwi() right after the call to pci_set_master() in the 3ware driver. Has anyone seen this or come across this before? I'm curious to know if what appears to be an insanely simple change has any bearing on the performance issues mentioned here.

guys, as like you all. i am pulling out the few fairs i still have..!!!!

i bought a nice server. got a so called nice controller with it. but as you all i feel the sluggyness of the system. the iohangs make a simpel task even hang stall freeze.. then to think i would want to host a few 100 websites on it. it could do the trick but when i would do a big file copy aka backup or an user initiated backup. then awww system slow / freeze

i am wrong here. but would this simple not mean that this card is nog ment to be made at all?!?!

it runs poor under linux and it runs poor under windows. you cannot do anything serious with the controller at all!!

my question is.. did you guys even use it? or found an answer for the iowaits?!

i think i will replace this controller with an lsi 300-3x or so.. i just hope i wont have the same issue then.

fyi

supermicro h8dar-i dual opteron
centos 5.2 64
3x250gb wd (mirror + hs)

purhaps trying to send the card bcak with all this info would give me my money back from 3ware?
