15K.6's don't appear to be in the channel in volume yet.

WD likes SR enough to send the Velicoraptor, maybe Samsung doesn't like SR very much. :P

Heck I'm still wondering why a separate Cheetah NS review never appeared...

I have seen an interesting screen.

I thought the F1 with 750gb is a little bit slower because of their 250gb platters.
It seems that there are different versions!?

I have 8 of these 750gb drives and one of them benches like that. The rest have the typical low 70s average read rate. All of the drives were purchased at once and are within a 20 serial number range.

It's interesting to note the different access times. The burst rate is being inflated by the Areca controller's 256mb of cache.

That's interesting. And on all drives aam is disabled?

Seems to be a lottery buying a 750gb F1. ^^

Is the "fast" F1 a newer one or have you bought them all together?

My understanding is that Samsung may use a manufacturing technique where, if a large capacity flagship doesn't pass its final disk test, it can be downgraded to a lower-capacity drive (rather than being re-worked or scrapped) and retested to see if it will pass as a lower-capacity drive. For example, if a 3 disk/6 head flagship has one surface/head that doesn't pass the final disk test (why?), it can be downgraded and sold as a 3 disk/5 head (or a 2 disk) lower capacity drive, still having the transfer rate of the flagship for the other surfaces.

The German Website Hartware.net has tested the SpinPoint F1 750! Use Google for Translation if needed.

Inglix, so you are not experiencing issues using Samsung 750gb drives with an Areca Controller? The latest HDD compatibility list dated 04/09/08 lists possible problems when using 750gb or 1TB capacity Samsung F1 series drives.
